Weekly Challenge - “D”

Bow pose (Dhanurasana)

Dhanurasana is a heart opening back bend, but it targets more than just the back. This pose opens the chest and stretches the hip-flexors and hamstrings. If you’re one of the people who get trapped at a desk all day, this pose will help! If you struggle with flexibility, consider starting this pose with a strap from the ankles to the hands. Add resistance slowly by shortening the strap length each time you enter this pose. Eventually, you may reach your hands to the outside ankles. As you increase resistance with your legs, you’ll help open the heart space more and you might even feel like you’re drawing back a bow string, ready to fire an arrow!

Don’t be worried if this pose takes you a little more practice than others.

Remember to breathe! Make use of the extra space you’re creating in the diaphragm.
