Weekly Challenge - “B”
This week, we are looking at the Cobra Pose (Bhujangasana)!
This pose is a heart-opening backbend. It’s easy to miss the point of this pose by pushing your hands against the floor/mat and only putting effort into stretching the lower back. Instead, be mindful of the upper back and shoulders! Keep the shoulders low and heart forward to really include the upper back in this bend.
Don’t stress yourself with this pose either. It’s okay if you cannot get into a fully extended position. You can modify this pose by keeping your hands and elbows on the floor/mat for a slightly shallower bend and the more you work with this modification, the deeper you’ll be able to go! This pose is a fundamental building block for being able to do more advanced poses later.
Remember to breathe!!
IF you find yourself on the mat and you manage to get a nice picture of your weekly challenge pose, we would LOVE for you to post it up and tag us on Instagram (llamaste_yoga_healing) or Facebook (llamasteyoga)! If you use the hashtags #llamastetx or #llamasteABCchallenge , then we will do our best to see and share your pictures!
